The goal of the Department of Defense Modernization Project (DODMP) is to increase high performance computing capabilities within the DoD labs through the introduction of modern parallel computing systems. The project is spearheaded by four DoD major shared resource centers (MSRCs). Rice participates in the program with three of the four MSRCs:

  • Army Research Lab (ARL), Aberdeen Maryland
  • Aeronautical Systems Center (ASC), Dayton, Ohio
  • Army Corps of Engineers Waterways Experiment Station (CEWES),
    Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Rice's primary roles are to provide programming tools expertise for high-end computational scientists and engineers by focusing on their computational problems and to assist users in using new technologies to benefit their applications on high performance computers.
